Luca is book #1 of the Project Arma series
Well, this is the first book of the series, so technically yes, but check the ending type above in case you want to avoid cliffhangers.

Rating & review
My review
This book is exactly what I was craving.
I went into Luca wanting a protective hero, instant connection, and that slightly feral, “mine” energy from the male lead—and this book absolutely delivered.
From their very first interaction, Luca and Evie have a spark that feels immediate but believable. There’s no overthinking it, no unnecessary push-and-pull.
The plot itself is fairly straightforward, which honestly worked in its favor. This isn’t a book trying to reinvent suspense romance—it’s focused, easy to follow, and sprinkled with just enough tension to keep the pages turning. I had every intention of stopping at a reasonable hour… and instead found myself reading until 3 a.m. on a work night. Worth it.
One of my favorite elements is the super-soldier angle. Luca is part of a non-sanctioned government experiment, turning trained soldiers into enhanced weapons. It adds a slightly sci-fi edge without overpowering the romance, and it fits seamlessly into the story’s suspense framework.
I also loved how Luca’s super-soldier abilities were depicted. His enhanced senses, speed, and strength were woven naturally into the story—especially moments like him hearing Evie’s heartbeat. It added intensity, intimacy, and made his protectiveness feel deeply instinctual.
Is this a literary masterpiece? No.
Is it exactly what I wanted in the moment? Absolutely.
If you can suspend disbelief—ignore the occasional “this could never happen in real life” moment—and just lean into the ride, this book is deeply satisfying.
⚠️ Content note: Evie comes from an abusive past and is fleeing a violent ex. If you’re sensitive to these themes, I strongly recommend checking content warnings beforehand.
Romance & Characters
Luca is a standout hero. He’s:
- Protective without being suffocating
- Emotionally open
- Jealous in a restrained, non-annoying way
- Very much a “mine” kind of man
His possessiveness feels instinctual rather than controlling, and his desire to build a relationship based on trust makes him incredibly easy to root for.
Evie is refreshingly competent. She’s smart, cautious, and shaped by trauma—but not written as helpless or frustrating. She doesn’t make wildly stupid decisions just to move the plot forward, and her survival instincts feel earned.
Their dynamic is soft, intense, and grounded in mutual respect, which made the romance feel both fast and solid.
Final Thoughts
Luca is the kind of book you pick up when you want:
- A protective, capable hero
- A damsel-in-distress storyline done right
- Light suspense with real stakes
- A romance that pulls you in fast and doesn’t let go
Sometimes you don’t want complex—you want effective. And this book nails that.
