I found Chani Lynn Feener completely by accident — and honestly, that’s part of why this blog exists. None of the recommendation algorithms I use surfaced her to me, and they should have. I’ve read two of her books back to back and I’m already impatient to read more.
Her books follow a pseudo-mafia structure set in a futuristic world with sci-fi elements, featuring morally questionable heroes and heavy exploration of consent themes. I generally hate genre blending — dark romance plus sci-fi is a combination most authors fumble — but Feener handles it with a level of craft that genuinely impressed me. Her worldbuilding is excellent, and it never gets in the way of the story.
