My review
I usually hate the rejected mates trope and high-angst stories. But here? I LOVED IT. This is one of the best werewolf/shifter romances I’ve read, it completely took me by surprise.
Normally I roll my eyes at rejected-mates plots because they all follow the same formula: she wasn’t worthy, he rejects her, he regrets it, he wants her back. Here, it’s so much more complex. The pacing surprised me in the best way. The opening is fast, and there are revelations tucked inside casual lines of dialogue, you have to pay attention or you’ll miss how the story suddenly shifts direction. I loved not knowing where things were headed. Too many romances feel predictable; this one kept me guessing. I dreaded going to work because it meant putting the book down.

If I had to critique something
My one pet peeve with book two was the ending. It was beautiful, yes, but it felt a little too short. I craved a glimpse further into the future, a more fleshed-out resolution. Still, it didn’t take away from how impactful the story was.
Book three is where I have to be honest: I was just so disappointed. It was a good book, I guess, but in comparison with the first two it just wasn’t. There’s a lot of longing and not a lot of resolution, and I don’t feel like I needed to know Cassius’s story. It didn’t really add anything to the trilogy. That said, I’m in the minority here. Most people on Goodreads love it, 44% give it five stars. If you loved the first two, just go into the third with way lower expectations.

The romance in this trilogy is MF, angsty, and emotional. There’s some spice, not a lot. What I loved is that the romance in the first 2 books feels like an extension of Rya’s journey, rather than just a reward at the end.
The heroes are flawed, and growth doesn’t come magically, it takes work. The romance is not the easy kind. It’s messy, complicated, and full of effort, and that’s what makes the bond feel raw and beautiful.
Book three is different. It’s more longing than falling in love, and don’t go into it expecting spice or romance.
