My review
I really enjoyed the first half of Mr. Masters by T.L. Swan. It was hot, engaging, and well-paced—exactly my taste. The second half felt less polished and edited, but overall, it’s still a good, entertaining read.
Overall Story
Be aware: this book is very graphic, though I personally didn’t find it particularly erotic (yes, there’s a difference!). If you prefer books with explicit and frequent scenes, you’ll likely love it. I enjoy stories with more sensuality and build-up rather than purely graphic content.
One of my pet peeves appeared around the middle section, where there was repetitive back-and-forth drama—she wanted something from him, he kept saying he couldn’t deliver. It got frustrating.
Romance & Spicy Scenes
One spicy scene included an element of pain that didn’t feel particularly hot to me. While I usually like a bit of pain mixed into the erotic tension, it needs to be balanced just right, and this didn’t quite hit the mark.
Characters
She is stubborn, sweet, romantic, playful (w.g. the pets, and taking the kids to McDonald’s). I think she is the sunshine to his grumpy.
He, on the other hand, is moody, infuriating, a bit of an asshole, and afraid of emotional closeness. If you’re not a fan of the “alphasshole” trope, you might want to skip this one. The male lead definitely had his moments, but I didn’t see him as the typical confident alpha male—he’s far more volatile. However, if you enjoy intense male leads with a lot of stamina, he’s definitely your guy!
