My review
Roadie is a direct continuation of Groupie, and the honest answer is: no, it’s not better than Groupie. But it’s also not a bad book. It gets 4 stars from me.
Here’s the thing. I have a hard time with second books in a series. It’s rare that book 2 matches or surpasses book 1 for me, and Roadie was no exception. But I still enjoyed it a lot. Everything I loved about Groupie is here: the grief, the excessive spice, the whole rockstar world, getting to know these characters more. It just didn’t hit quite the same way.
My one pet peeve
The wildcat metaphor. It was mentioned SIX times in Groupie, and I was hoping we’d leave it behind. We did not. We get three more mentions of Lilith thinking of herself as a wildcat claiming her mates. Three. THREE…sigh.
The story
Outside of that, Roadie is very similar to Groupie. Not much happens plot-wise. Time passes, the relationship develops, and we get to know the characters better. Which, honestly, is a plus for me.
Final thoughts
If you didn’t love Groupie and were hoping Roadie would fix that, this probably isn’t your book. The DNA is the same. But if you loved Groupie like I did, you’re going to have a good time.
