About the series
The Incubus’s Assistant is book #1 of the Charmed Away Temp Agency series
Well, this is the first book of the series, so technically yes, but check the ending type above in case you want to avoid cliffhangers.
Book Blurb
When Avery showed up for his temp job on Monday morning, he’d had certain expectations in mind. He was not expecting to end up bent over his new boss’s desk. It was an innocent mistake, and he’s determined to move on, but the experience left him breathless and more than a little curious. So when his new boss is left without a feeder, he volunteers to help. After all, that’s what any good assistant would do. Right?
Ozen made foolish decisions when he was hungry. He is grateful that his new assistant is so forgiving. But when he finds himself starving after his new feeder throws a temper tantrum and refuses to show up, he has no choice but to ask his assistant for help. After all, he had yet to meet an assistant who was so professional. Surely they could get through a feeder contract without any issues. Right?

Rating & review
My review
The Incubus’s Assistant is such a cute, cozy paranormal romance.
In terms of plot-to-romance ratio, this book is about 10% plot and 90% romance—and that’s very much intentional. If you’re looking for a story with heavy external conflict or high-stakes drama outside the relationship, this isn’t it. The plot exists, but it stays firmly in the background, showing up in only a handful of chapters. What this book really focuses on is the romance itself, without adding unnecessary complications.
And honestly? That focus works beautifully.
One of my favorite aspects was the worldbuilding. The paranormal setting is playful and imaginative, populated by all kinds of supernatural beings living and working alongside humans. We get hydras as receptionists, chimeras as teachers, vampires as butlers—and that’s just the start. Medusas, goblins, incubi, shapeshifters, banshees, satyrs, krakens… I tried keeping track, but eventually gave up and just enjoyed how lively and fun this world felt.
That said, this isn’t a completely soft, fluff-only read. There are some darker undertones, particularly around discrimination, and—given that the MMC is an incubus—there’s a generous amount of spice. I debated the burn level quite a bit. While penetrative sex doesn’t happen immediately, the foreplay is intense, intimate, and very sex-adjacent, which pushed me to categorize this as a fast-burn romance.
The spice is definitely spicy, but for me, the most enjoyable parts were the falling-in-love moments and the emotional connection that develops so naturally between the characters.
The Characters
Ozen
Grumpy when hungry, professional to a fault, and quietly intense, Ozen is a solid paranormal romance hero. His incubus nature is woven into the story without overpowering his personality, and I really liked how controlled and reserved he is despite everything going on.
Avery (the real star of the show)
Avery completely stole my heart. He’s competent, genuinely proud of being good at his job (which I loved), empathetic, and deeply caring toward Ozen. His desire to help comes from kindness, not obligation. Between his inexperience, warmth, and quiet confidence, it’s honestly no surprise that Ozen didn’t stand a chance.
Overall, this was a low-stress, romance-forward paranormal read—sweet, sexy, and easy to sink into when you’re craving connection over conflict.
