About the series
Valiant is book #3 of the New Species series
Depends, in my opinion, this book spoils earlier books in the series, and that’s a deal breaker for me, but it might not be for you.
Book Blurb
Tammy has always tried to be prepared for any calamity life might send her way, but a sexy, lion man-beast is way outside the norm. He’s huge, has the most exotic, golden cat-eyes she’s ever seen—and she’s so terrified of him, she’s speechless for the first time in her life. He’s stalking closer, growling at her, and she’s too unnerved to even flee.
Valiant has always hated humans. But when he gets a whiff of the adorable human female who has invaded his territory, he’s forced to reexamine his feelings on the matter. Her fear scents of pure, sweet temptation and the closer he gets, the more appealing she becomes. Once he’s got his hands on her, he isn’t about to let go. One thought will change his life. MINE!
Before Tammy can regain her senses, she’s flat on her back in Valiant’s bed. Now he just has to use every inch of his big, buff body to convince her to stay with him forever.

Rating & review
My review
Another book from the New Species series that I’ve read a ton—though not quite as much as Slade or Fury, but almost.
Can You Start the Series Here?
I do think it’s important to have read Fury or Slade before diving into this one. Warning though: if you read Valiant before Slade, you’ll completely spoil Slade, which, in my opinion, would be a total tragedy.
Plot and Themes
In Valiant, there’s not a ton of plot progression; it’s more like a continuation of what we saw in Slade. There are still plenty of damsel-in-distress elements, which I personally love, and some developments regarding how the New Species integrate into society.
If you’re into books with damsel-in-distress vibes and characters with animal traits, you’ll definitely enjoy this one.
Characters
Tammy gave me strong “girl-next-door” vibes—she’s also open-minded and sweet.
Valiant has way more prominent animalistic features than the other characters. I thought that would put me off the story or the spicy scenes, but honestly, it didn’t. Maybe I imagined him as more humanoid than Dohner intended, though. His physical description wasn’t among the sexiest compared to Fury or Slade, but his personality is hot.
There’s a simplicity to Valiant’s character that’s really well-crafted, and I like it a lot. He knows exactly what he wants and doesn’t overcomplicate things.
